oh man, guys! i promised myself i would never be one of those photographers that just... vanished! but i totally did! we've still been shooting like crazy, thank goodness, but i have definitely failed on the blogging front! i think it's a combination of moving, quitting my job (this is my last week!), being sick over & over, marrying off a younger brother and ...


... oh yeah, this thing!

he/she is definitely bigger now, but still! wow!! we find out in two weeks if we'll have a boy or a girl and we are thrilled!! mom's especially thrilled now that morning sickness + strep (lovely combination) is gone... bleh!


so we are back, and will definitely be posting and doing some major catching up! heck, we still have sessions from july that need to be blogged. and since it's currently snowing, it might be a good time to reminisce on sunshine and other such happiness :)

i heart faces: from a distance

I thought this week's "i heart faces" theme went perfectly with the bridal shoot I'm finally allowed to post photos from (she got married two days ago!). Here is one of my very favorites. They had it printed and displayed on a huge stand at their reception and it got lots of love :) Time to go print one of my own...

m.i.a. & heidi

Man, we've been majorly (apparently not a word.. heh) missing in action lately! I have so many fun photography ideas, so many giveaways/specials and SO many photos to edit... I need finals to end so I can have my brain back. Temporarily.

I have a huge PR group project that I have due tomorrow.. after that I can breathe a little more easily. For the project, I'm in charge of the graphic design, including a poster on sleep deprivation. One of my BEST friends, Erin, knows all about sleep deprivation, so I asked if I could take a photo or two of her. After we were done taking them, we felt like the following photo kind of summed up our lives right now. Last few weeks of finals. Yuck! Thanks for empathizing with me, Erin :)

I have so much to catch up on as far as posts go. In fact, as I'm typing this I'm in one of my Communications classes.. haha. Oops!

One of the posts was a quick 15 minute shoot that I did for another best friend, Heidi. She needed a photo of herself, and realize she hadn't had any taken of just her since she got married (sound familiar?). I was happy to oblige! I think this is going to be an upcoming special, for you beautiful moms who need to feel a little more glamorous. It was fun to shoot a couple of photos around the house with her, though.

100th Post

So imagine some epic fireworks :) It's too cold here to do anything remotely cool like that, so we'll stick with a post. Also, if you're not already following us on facebook, go do that! The more photographs I take of small children, the more amused I am with how well reverse psychology works. With some kids, it makes all the difference. Take Zekie, for example...

We were sitting in their house, waiting to leave for the photoshoot, when Zekie decides he's officially unhappy. (excuse my weird looking leg in the photo)

I replied by telling him that was just fine, as long as he didn't smile. I hate smiles, I said. Please don't.

Literally, seconds later...

Is anyone else amused by this? I never thought, getting into photography, that I would be telling kids to please not smile more often than I would tell them to smile. So it goes.

Yeah, my husband is cool :) This shot is straight-out-of-camera.. he took it last night while we were taking bridals. Speaking of which, I have sooooo much catching up to do. A family shoot, two sets of bridals, a wedding we're about to go leave to, and one a week from today. So please don't give up on us.. we'll be posting LOTS soon. Have a great weekend, everyone!

i heart faces: photojournalism

When I first read that the theme of this week's contest was photojournalism, I had a hard time figuring out what photo to use. I started browsing through photos I had taken while working at the newspaper for a couple of years, and ran across this.

Spanish Fork, Utah.. while not all that exciting.. has a Hari Krishna temple that holds many events. Some, such as the Festival of Colors, have become huge events, with people all over Utah coming to participate. Though this event isn't as "popular" it was still fun. This is at the Llama Festival. At the bottom of the hill they have a stage where cultural dances are held and Krishna music played. These people are beautiful and so genuinely happy. I feel like this photograph tells a wonderful story.

i heart faces : beach fun

I've never entered one of these contests before, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

This photo was nothing planned. Nick & I celebrated one year and took a road trip across the west coast this summer. We started up in Oregon, and I fell in love with the Oregon coast and the mist. I snapped this random shot of Nick, with his shoes off, feeling the water on his feet and the mist on his face.

We held hands and spent a few hours walking up and down that beach, and I told myself I would never forget that day.

* I was having a hard time deciding what quote to use. I probably should have used a more normal one, but this sums up my brothers so well. It was from when they were really young, although I wouldn't put it past them to have a conversation like this today.
