... i'm a ninja. no no, it's true! we thought about adding that to our business card (photography, graphic design, NINJA-ing), but we didn't want people to misinterpret the "we want to shoot you" part of the card...

anyway, moving on. i got a phone call one day from danny, who happened to be proposing to his girlfriend that day! true story. he asked if i could come "secretly" photograph the proposal. woah!! so i whipped out a handy family i know to do some fake posing for me, and off we went!

awww! cute, huh?? he even wrote her a song. this is the real deal, guys! take notes!

so after the preciousness, we went to go take some fun photos. for those of you that don't feel comfortable seeing lots of mushiness and kissing, turn back now. they were practically glowing :) it was a good day!

summer in utah is a little bit crazy, not gonna lie. sometimes there's snow, recently there have been thunderstorms.. oh, and the occasional sunshine :) we love it, though! we're trying to cram in as much summer as we possibly can... swimming, popsicles, warm summer nights, picnics, watermelon. all that jazz!

Far World

I've been lucky enough to live across the street from the Bromley's for almost two years now (Nick's known them longer) and I want my kids to be just like theirs! They are definitely the cute neighbor kids that come over on warm summer nights when we're working on stuff in the garage and ask what they can do to help, or see if they can help out with our popsicle infestation :) I'm definitely a huge fan of all of them!

We got to finish up the session with some photos of just Lucy. She turns eight this summer and will get to be baptized. She is so excited, and totally beautiful!

Man, we've been majorly (apparently not a word.. heh) missing in action lately! I have so many fun photography ideas, so many giveaways/specials and SO many photos to edit... I need finals to end so I can have my brain back. Temporarily.

I have a huge PR group project that I have due tomorrow.. after that I can breathe a little more easily. For the project, I'm in charge of the graphic design, including a poster on sleep deprivation. One of my BEST friends, Erin, knows all about sleep deprivation, so I asked if I could take a photo or two of her. After we were done taking them, we felt like the following photo kind of summed up our lives right now. Last few weeks of finals. Yuck! Thanks for empathizing with me, Erin :)

I have so much to catch up on as far as posts go. In fact, as I'm typing this I'm in one of my Communications classes.. haha. Oops!

One of the posts was a quick 15 minute shoot that I did for another best friend, Heidi. She needed a photo of herself, and realize she hadn't had any taken of just her since she got married (sound familiar?). I was happy to oblige! I think this is going to be an upcoming special, for you beautiful moms who need to feel a little more glamorous. It was fun to shoot a couple of photos around the house with her, though.

While I was taking photos of this cute boy, I managed to snap in a few of Jayden while mommy was feeding his baby brother. I spent most of my time crawling around the floor with him, stalking him with the camera and enjoying the natural light pouring in through their windows.

So many of us spend so much time behind the camera, documenting life, we forget to document that we're a part of it. Nick & I included. We had his fab photographer sister, Kelly, take some photos for us and I love them so much. We don't even have a family yet, but I plan on getting photos of us taken regularly :) You treasure those photos.

Let us document you and your loved one! 'Tis the season :) Here's a little more information:

Who: You and your "loved one".*
Where: Any location of your choice in Salt Lake or Utah County. If you don't have anything in mind, we do!
When: Any time between January 24 and Valentine's Day. We already have the next month filling up fast, and are down to five sessions left. So book us soon!
What: A 30-minute mini-session. A CD of your photos. And a credit of 20 4x6 personalized Valentine cards by Valentine's day.**
How much: $45

* Single for Valentine's Day? "Loved one" can entail a best friend, boyfriend, dog, etc. Heck, we can do photos and valentines of just you! We love ourselves, too :)
** To get the cards by Valentine's Day, you must have your session by Friday, February 11.

He taught a family history class, minus the class. She worked in the library. He liked her for six months, but never asked her name. When he finally got up the guts to ask her out, he pronounced her name wrong.

She said yes anyway :)

They kept playing with each other in the snow, and then apologizing for playing while I was trying to take photos. Are you kidding me? Play on :)

Pretty ice to take photos in front of? Yes, please!

Okay everyone, we're back! Sorry we weren't around much... our immune systems decided to fail us after Christmas. And then school and work started back up and, well... goodbye free time! We have lots to post, though, so there will be lots popping up here and there on the blog as we play the catch up game :)

There are a few things changing for the new year! We thought you'd like to know about them! How thoughtful of us, eh?

- Pricing. Our prices have gone up. Not a ton.. and we're still much lower than most photographers you'll find.. but they have gone up. Why? We charged less as we were starting out, because we felt that was fair. A low price, and we were building our portfolio. In the past year, since we started, we have become much better at this, and our booking up SO much faster than we did before, so... higher prices.

- Availability. If you check out our FAQ page, it will give you more information, but here's the gist of it. The longer we've been doing this, the more we've been filling up. For example, the new year just started, and we are almost completely booked for both January and February. Whew! Not to mention, with me starting school (and Nick always at work), we have less free time. So if you want to book, do it as soon as possible.

- Also, we're no longer booking less than two weeks in advance. Again, while we were working on building our portfolio, we were more than happy to squeeze people in when we could. Unfortunately we can't do that anymore. With less openings, we can't squeeze those kinds of things in anymore. However, if you check out the FAQ, we can charge extra if you HAVE to have photos.

- Lastly, printing. This won't go into effect until later in the year, but we will start offering printing... possibly exclusively. We want you to get the best possible quality of prints (for low prices), and are working on making that a reality. Like I've said before, we will never charge you more for the prints than we get them for. I think that's unfair. But we do want to select which printers we go with, so your photographs are being printed the best way they can be. More to come on that :)

So that's about it! Again, always e-mail or comment if you have any questions or there's something you want to let us know. There will also be a contest/giveaway/special going on EVERY month, so keep an eye out. If you send us your e-mail address, you'll be the first to get it, before it's posted on the blog. There's one coming up in the next week or two.. yay!

It was super snowy, so Nick convinced everyone to have a snowball fight. We may have given the girls frostbite, but it was super cute to see them chucking snowballs as their tough dad :)

This was such a fun, sweet family! We were happy we got to squeeze them in while Justin was home for Christmas. Hope you guys had a fantastic Christmas together :)

I got to spend time with this cute little familiy today :) I guess it's officially winter, because we had to trudge through snow and rain to get these great photos. Luckily, winter also calls for cute Santa hats, which the girls were more than happy to provide!

2011 senior reps

We're looking to take more senior photos. Normally, we specialize in family photography, but love spending time with seniors and getting to know them. We want to take photos that represent who they are and what they spend their time doing... none of this boring backdrop and typical poses stuff. We want to get out and show everyone who YOU are!

So we're offering a giveaway for 2011 Senior Reps. All the info is below. We'll choose a winner from each high school and you'll get a free session, photos, rep cards & $15 cash for every friend of yours that books a senior session with us! (I always look for quotes to add with the photos, and immediately had this song pop into my head. I went to look up the lyrics and noticed that at the very end, he sings, "Darling Sean". Yeah, I'm that good ;))

Sean was born premature, so we had the opportunity to go up to Logan and take photos for Dan & Andrea. Their little boy was seriously perfect. Aside from not enjoying being on his stomach, and puking when Mom & Dad started kissing (hey, what kid doesn't?), he was asleep the WHOLE time. Thank you, Sean!

Apparently I only chose to post vertical photographs.. just noticed that. But it was fun being able to take them in their home and spend time with them :)
